As long as she can remember, Elise has been passionate about music. Music has always been a part of her life; her mother sang and played guitar and her father always loved to dance.  Her parents’ old records were an endless source of joy for Elise, who spent hours immersed in the lyrics, rhythms, and harmonies of everything from broadway musicals and the big band era to the Beatles and Moody Blues. A natural performer, Elise began playing the flute over 25 years ago and has since enjoyed studying and teaching music at all levels.  Elise holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Central Connecticut State University and she has worked for many years as an early childhood educator. Elise is committed to ongoing professional development in order to gain a better understanding of children's musical development, Music Together program philosophy, and ongoing research in the field.  Elise regularly attends Music Together Songs and Skills workshops and was recently awarded her Certification Level 1 in teaching mastery from the Music Together CMYC (the Center for Music and Young Children) in Princeton for demonstrating achievement in musicianship, movement, parent education, and teaching the Music Together program.  Elise is thrilled to share her passion for music with young children and their families. She also attends Music Together classes with her husband Jordan and 2 year old daughter Lily.  She loves the way that making music as a family strengthens their family bond and how making music together with the families in her classes strengthens community bonds.

photo Brennan Gilroy Finnegan

Brennan can’t remember a time when music wasn’t part of her life. As a child, her mom took her and her sisters to a “play-group” that was very similar to Music Together classes, with singing, dancing, and movement.  Her parents often sang at home, and by the time she was 8 years old, she was taking piano lessons and singing in the school choir.  She continued singing and playing the piano through high school and college, and enjoyed performing in many school and community musical theater productions.  She’s sung in numerous choirs and was a choral conductor for the children and adult choirs at a church in Pennsylvania. She received a BA in Vocal Performance and minor in Music Industry from York College of Pennsylvania, and her Masters degree in Ethnomusicology from Hunter College in New York City. While at Hunter College, she studied Irish traditional music and explored the idea of shared music making as a necessary connection for people living in an urban environment. She lived in New York City for 10 years and had the privilege of working in the administrative offices at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. While there, she organized a singing group of fellow coworkers who performed at employee and board events, including performances at the David Rubenstein Atrium and Alice Tully Hall. She’s also been the lead singer in a duo that performed a variety of popular music around Fairfield County.  She currently teaches piano lessons in her home studio in Monroe, CT. A mother of two young Music Together children, she is excited to share memorable musical experiences with other families through Music Together.  She loves Music Together’s goal of “Making the World a Better Place…by Making It More Musical.”
